AmSnow visited Yamaha's snowmobile headquarters in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. this week. During the visit, AmSnow's Senior Editor Mark Boncher was shown the progression of Yamaha's Nytro snocross snowmobiles throughout their race timeline.
Yamaha originally started racing in snocross in 1998.
Its' last season for WPAS was the fall 2001/spring 2002 season. Yamaha officially announced the withdrawal of their factory snocross team in September of 2002.
Yamaha was out of snocross after spring 2002 season and re-joined in the start of the winter of 2006.
This was when Team Blue started the 4-stroke assault on snocross with their Nytro Snocross sleds. several of the iterations of the Nytro snocrosser can be seen in these photos.
Yamaha pulled out of ISOC in the 2009/2010 season .
