A record number of riders entered in to the USCC J&K Marine Beach 200 this past Jan. 29 in Detroit Lakes.

The event was held on Big Detroit Lake just in front of the Holiday Inn which played host to the riders and fans. The two-day race featured a 7.2-mile course that had an arm-pumping total of 44 turns. Riders paid one entry fee and were scored on total time over the two days of racing.

During Saturday's Pro 600 race Polaris rider Corey Davidson set a blistering pace to start the event, putting some 11-seconds between his sled and second place just four laps in. But Polaris rider Ryan Faust made up that time and more, and by the end of the 14-lap race had covered the gap and put 16-seconds on Davidson and over a minute on third place Polaris rider Justin Tate. But the race was run on combined time, so the riders still had another 100 miles to race on Sunday. The riders left according to time on Sunday and Faust again set a frantic pace. Davidson set to work covering the gap, but a blown belt ended his run at an overall win. Arctic Cat rider Ryan Simons, who was some 3:31 back after Saturday's race, made up all but about four minutes of that gap to finish second behind Faust, who was the eventual winner. Tate finished third and Polaris rider Aaron Christensen took fourth.

Arctic Cat rider D.J. Ekre had the combined best time in the Pro Open class, finishing a little more than four seconds ahead of his teammate, Brian Dick. Faust finished third and Yamaha rider Ross Erdman took fourth.

"Detroit Lakes was another outstanding showing by the team," commented Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. "We're still learning some things about the Sno Pro 600, and I'm proud of the riders and crews who put in extra time and effort to stay on top of the game this past weekend."

Polaris rider Travis Faust took the win in the Semi-Pro 600 class, he was followed by Pine Lake winner and Arctic Cat rider Jordan Torgerson and another Cat rider, Wesley Selby. Torgerson took the win in Semi-Pro Improved followed by Selby and Yamaha rider Ben Lindbom.

"The Detroit Lakes event was a great success," said acting USCC Race Director Scott Schuster. "So many people are just chomping at the bit to go riding and do some racing and we saw the results with a record number of race entries. I'm not sure we could have scripted a better weekend."
