The Penn. State Snowmobile Association awarded mini-grant totaling close to $44,000 to 15 Penn. snowmobile clubs.
These snowmobile clubs will use their funding to take on a number of projects for trail maintenance, grooming and restoration in their areas to improve snowmobile trails.
Recipient clubs include: Ace Snowmobile Club (Honesdale, PA), Forest County Snowmobile Club (Tionesta, PA), God's Country Black Forest Snowmobile Club (Germania, PA), Hilltop Howler's Snowmobile Club (Rockton, PA), Kane Area Snowmobile Club (Kane, PA), Maple Summit Snowmobile Club (Export, PA), Marienville Trail Riders Snowmobile Club (Marienville, PA), McKean Snowriders Snowmobile Club (McKean, PA), Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Snowmobile Club (Wellsboro, PA), Presque Isle Snowmobile Club (Waterford, PA), Pymatuning Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club (Jamestown, PA), Rolling Ridge Snowmobile Club (McKeesport, PA), Tionesta Valley Snowmobile Club (Warren, PA), Wales Sno-Drifters, Inc. (Erie, PA) and Warren County Snowmobile Club, (Sugar Grove, PA).
This is the third round of mini-grant awards granted since September, 2011. Round I was conducted last fall, with 10 Pennsylvania snowmobile clubs, receiving a total of $37,000 in grant funding. Round II conducted this spring with 12 Pennsylvania snowmobile clubs receiving a total of $37,900 in grant funding.
The mini-grants project is financed in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, Pennsylvania Recreational Trails Program funded through the Federal Highway Administration, under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. Its purpose is to help clubs repair and maintain trails and grooming equipment and assist with grooming expenses.
