Snowmobile trails have opened in Vilas County, Wis. after a winter storm on December 9 produced enough snow, according to WAOW.com Newsline 9.

Nearly 500 miles of snowmobile trails that run through Vilas County are open for riders.

"Snow is minimal right now, so we're asking you to use extreme caution," Vilas County Recreation Administrator Dale Mayo told Newsline 9.

The December 9 storm dropped a couple of inches.

Riders may find rough areas, icy patches and wet segments in low-lying areas. Snowmobilers should not cross lakes until the routes are clearly marked.

Temperatures are to remain in the low 30s during the day and 20s at night with a chance of snow on Saturday and Sunday, according to weather.com.
