Thunder Mountain Lodge in Cedaredge, Colo. was destroyed during an overnight fire on Tuesday, according to KKCO 11 News.

Senior Editor Mark Boncher reported in the November 2012 issue on a trip he took the previous March to this lodge.

Delta Fire Protection District Chief Kevin Walker said the lodge was a total loss.

Firefighters were called out to the scene just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Walker says crews had to drive about 17 miles to get to the lodge and there is not much water available in the area.

The lodge was burned to the ground by the time the firefighters arrived.

Walker says no one was sleeping in the lodge and no one was injured. The owner was sleeping in his quarters in a different building behind the lodge.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Walker says the Delta County Sheriff's Office is handling that. The lodge was known as Spruce Lodge for many years.
