    Update: Stolen sled involved in deer incident

    A stolen sled was confiscated from the home of one of the three local men accused of killing the five deer in Waupaca County with snowmobiles, according to DNR Conservation Warden Supervisor Carl Mesman. Two brothers, Robby Kuenzi (23) and Rory Kuenzi (24), are being held in the Waupaca County Jail in connection to incident.     Update: Waupaca County trails remain open

    The Waupaca County Snowmobile Association decided last night at a meeting to keep the trails open except for Niemuth's portion of the trail, according to DNR Conservation Wardern Supervisor Carl Mesman. Mesman, also, said portions of the damaged sleds were recovered on Saturday morning and have been sent to the Wisconsin crime lab for further investigations.     A group of snowmobilers in central Wisconsin herded and killed four deer and severely injured a fifth in what a warden called a senseless act of cruelty on Monday.     NSSR race moved to Buffalo Lake

    This weekend's NSSR race has been moved to Buffalo Lake in Buffalo, Minn on January 17. Registration will be at 8am and racing will be from 10 am to 4pm. There will be a track for professional racers and another track for vintage, trail stock, ATV's, and motorcycles.     Wisconsin DNR said deer run down by snowmobilers

    A farm field in the town of Lind in Waupaca County turned into a killing field. "It was obvious snowmobilers were running them down from behind," said Randal Yorkson, who farms the property along a snowmobile trail in Waupaca County, near County Highway EE.     Michigan's governor signs bill to increase snowmobile fees

    Governor Jennifer Granholm signed on January 6th a bill to increase snowmobile registration and trail permit fees for the 2009-2010 season, according to Megan Brown, Deputy Press Secretary to the Governor's office. Under the Senate bill the registration would increase from $22 to $30 starting July1, 2009.
