American Snowmobiler RMSHA racer Toby Shepherd got his hillclimb season off to a fast start last weekend taking 2nd in the 700 Stock class at Bear Lake in Montpelier, Idaho, his best finish in the pro ranks.

Shepherd also qualified for the finals in four other classes, placing in the top 10 in the 800 Improved (8th), 600 Stock (5th), 800 Stock (10th) and 1000 Stock (6th). It's an exceptional start to the season considering the growth the circuit has experienced this season. There are 35 new RMSHA members this year and the Pro Classes continue to get bigger and more competitive.

The competition wasn't the only obstacle Shepherd and the other racers faced at Bear Lake. Extremely low snow conditions made for a lot of dirt and mud on the course, but also contributed to some very fast times.

Look for Shepherd and the rest of the RMSHA racers as they tackle a very technical course in Afton, Wyo. February 27 - March 1, 2015.
