Snowmobilers want the ability to customize their rides to their liking, and Ski-Doo is offering a new way to do just that. And it may be something you've never thought about before.

The open foot well on Ski-Doo's 2017 Gen4 REV chassis is something that tends to get overlooked amid the glamour news of a new engine, roller primary clutch, etc. Personally, a foot well or toe-hold was never anything I gave much thought to, until it wasn't there. My initial reaction to Ski-Doo removing this piece of the sled was, "Give me that back!" But taking a step back and assessing that particular part of the sled and how it impacts my riding, I realized Ski-Doo has just given consumers the ability to completely customize this important piece. Feeling secure and comfortable with your feet is a big part of controlling the sled. Now you've got the ability to make that part of the sled as unique as you are. Here's how Ski-Doo is giving riders that specific control with some new accessories:

Ergo Fixed Toe Holds - Made of cast aluminum, they're light weight and bolt into pre-drilled, threaded holes. They offer a more locked-in feeling for the rider and allow you to hook your toe underneath to really get after it in the corners. Part #860201510 $79.99 USD/ $94.99 CAD

Ergo Adjustable Toe Holds - For the new Summit only. It's like a dirt bike foot-peg turned upside down. A die-cast aluminum toe-hold with a spring loaded upper piece that moves down out of your way when stepped on from the top. Think of hopping back and forth over the seat while mountain riding. Nothing is in your way, yet you're still able to hook your foot in the stirrup when you want. It can be adjusted 3 inches forward and back, and 1.5 inches up and down. Part #860201370 $229.99 USD/$269.99 CAD

Ergo Shim Kit for toe holds - MXZ/Renegade only. This kit allows a rider the chance to change how their boot fits in the toe hold. The kit comes with two shims (one 10mm and one 20mm) for each side giving you the ability to find the most comfortable position for your foot. Part # 860201408 $49.99 USD/$59.99 CAD

Ergo Lateral Foot Plates - MXZ/Renegade only. These lateral supports give a more traditional, enclosed feeling to the foot well. They attach to the outer running board giving riders a solid surface to push against with the outside of their foot in cornering situations. Part #860201402 $99.99 USD/$119.99 CAD

Ergo Knee Pads - Summit w/ electric start only. Designed for a perfect fit on REV platform side panels, these Ergo Step pads provide both cushion, protections and extra grip when contacting the panels, especially on steep descents. Part # 860201363 $69.99 USD/$84.99 CAD

Ergo 2 Knee Pads - MXZ/Renegade only. Designed for easy transition to both steps of the panel, these pads provide comfort, protection and extra grip. They are made of injection-moulded soft rubber material with adhesive backing for quick, easy installation. Part # 860201251 $89.99 USD/$104.99 CAD

These accessories can be used together for their respective models, giving you the opportunity to mold the sled to your personal riding preferences. It's another way Ski-Doo is giving riders the best snowmobile experience possible. And while it adds some cost, I'm willing to spend a few extra dollars to improve the quality of my snowmobiling experience.

More info on these accessories can be found at www.store.ski-doo.com or your local Ski-Doo dealer.
