    AmSnow's Countdown to Winter

The last month of summer is officially melting off the calendar into fall, and eventually winter will arrive (not soon enough!). We can’t think of a better way to get through these last stifling days of summer than a countdown of all the events where we can meet up with you in person, talk sleds, and especially go ride!

    Hay Days 50th Anniversary
We’ll start with the granddaddy of all snowmobile shows – Hay Days in North Branch, Minn. You already know Hay Days is big, but 2016 marks the snowmobile/powersports mecca’s 50th anniversary! Swap spaces have been sold out for about a month now, and the grass drags will be as exciting as ever, as will the powersports expo. But 50 years is a big deal, so to make sure this is a Hay Days to remember, snowmobile stuntman extraordinaire Levi LaVallee will be attempting a 200-foot snowmobile long jump Saturday night. You also have your chance at up to $1,000 cash in the t-shirt raffle, or commemorative helmets from FLY Racing. And, as usual, you’ll find the AmSnow editors handing out our Best of the Best Awards for the season, and ready to talk shop in BOOTH EF6. More details:

     AmSnow/Aeroquip Super Sled Shootout
Just two short weeks after Hay Days, our dash toward winter continues at North America’s premiere asphalt drag race event at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich., Sept. 23-25. The action actually gets underway on Thursday, Sept. 22, with participating racers testing and tuning the fastest snowmobiles in the world. The pits will be full by midday Friday, with racers and crews making final tweaks late into the night in anticipation of the racing action that starts Saturday. It’s a two-day affair with Outlaw, Pro-Stock, and an array of index racing. Big cash payouts for the winners of each class are only topped by the annual Saturday night Super Sled Bash with live music and fireworks. It’s a must-see event for the whole family! More details:

    Eastern Grass Drag Nationals
If you’re out East the weekend of Sept. 23-25 and can’t make the trek to Michigan for the Super Sled Shootout, we suggest checking out the Eastern Grass Drag Nationals at Excell Raceway Park in Bouckville, N.Y. Excell Motorsports puts on an incredible event, and AmSnow will be helping promote this wild endeavor that features a ton of the fastest sleds on grass, as well as the Mud Drag Nationals and their 4,000hp monster machines! More details:

Race into Winter Grass Drags and Watercross
Peterson’s Brookvale Farm in Freemont, N.H., is the site of this East Coast snowmobile extravaganza, Oct. 7-9. It’s the Hay Days of the East! Not only are there grass drags and watercross to wet your winter appetite, but there’s also dozens of vendor displays to browse, along with an enormous swap meet and freestyle show. We’re making our second visit to the Granite State for this event, and AmSnow editors will be there, so stop by the booth and say hi! This is one you don’t want to miss! More info:

     Snowmobile USA Shows
These events offer two chances to catch the AmSnow team. First, we’ll be at the Wisconsin Expo Center in West Allis, Wis. (Oct. 14-16). About a month later (Nov. 4-5), you can catch us for Round 2 in Novi, Mich., at the Suburban Collection Showplace. Self-proclaimed as “America’s Largest Snowmobile Show and Sale Event” (a few other shows might have something to say about that), this event offers everything a snowmobile enthusiast needs under one roof. We’ve been attending since the shows began over three decades ago! The hottest deals on the newest merchandise can be found here, including American Snowmobiler’s lowest subscription price offers of the year! More info:

     AmSnow/DynoTech Research New York Shootout
Held in Inlet, N.Y., this shootout is the kickoff to the Old Forge’s Snodeo Weekend, commonly known as Upstate New York’s official kickoff to winter. And unlike other “kickoffs” to the snowmobile season, this one takes place Dec. 9-12, so there’s actually a pretty decent chance there will be snow to ride on! Spectators are encouraged to ride to the Shootout (if there’s snow) as it is right off the snowmobile trail. Here is where we put the newest stock snowmobiles on the radar gun for the first time to see which one can claim bragging rights as the 2016-17 snowmobile season gets underway. But that’s not all! You’ll also witness some of North America’s top performance shops showcasing their products down the ¼-mile track behind The Ole Barn restaurant. We’re actually not sure what’s better about this event: the hot action on the track, the spectator party, or the after-party! Look for the guys running around with cameras – that’s us! More info:

     American Snowmobiler Ride-In
We want to ride with you! We’re hosting the highlight of our snowmobile season in Munising, Mich., Feb. 10-12, 2017. We’ll be joined by Boarders Inn and Suites, Curve Skis, Undercover Lights, Straightline Performance, Road Track & Trail and more sponsors, as well as hundreds of other snowmobile fanatics from across the Snow Belt! We’re talking about a weekend packed with good times on the trail and in the backcountry of the UP. Ride-In room packages start around $300 per person and include your 2-night stay at the newly renovated Boarders Inn and Suites, meals for the weekend, drink tickets, raffle tickets, swag bags and more!
