Arctic Cat Name Dropped From ATVs

Textron announced this week that it will be uniting its dirt line of vehicles under the name "Textron Off Road." This includes the Arctic Cat and Bad Boy brands of ATV and SxS vehicles. Arctic Cat snowmobiles will retain the Arctic Cat branding, but off-road vehicles - like the Wildcat and all ATV lines - will be under the Textron Off Road brand.

For Team Green dirt enthusiasts, the Arctic Cat name may be gone, but the individual vehicle sub-brands will remain the same with the Wildcat, Prowler, and Alterra lines.

The announcement came at an event in Dallas, where Textron Off Road announced the spring 2018 release of the Wildcat XX featuring a 125-hp triple 998cc engine. The vehicle was originally designed by Arctic Cat prior to the Textron acquisition, and slated for release in fall 2017. Textron made the decision to delay the release, citing the need for more time to evaluate the model before releasing it to consumers.

Textron Off Road’s current available lineup includes the gas-powered Stampede, the hybrid-powered Ambush iS, and the electric-powered Recoil and Recoil iS utility side-by-sides. The gas-powered Onslaught 550 was the company's only ATV offering until the incorporation of Arctic Cat ATVs into its lineup.

Don't ask us how this will work with Arctic Cat dealerships and apparel or accessories, but we're hoping that announcement comes soon, and that this transition with Textron goes smoothly.
