Bikini rally raises $5300 for charity

Posted 2 years ago by AmSnow
It was the warmest day of the week and the day of the Genesee Sno-Packers Bikini Rally. This was the first annual Bikini Rally and the only one in western NY. The club was having the event to raise money for the club, The Pink Ribbon Riders and for a fellow snowmobile enthusiast Ashley Danielle who was in a serious snowmobile crash early in the season. She is making great strides and has made some huge improvements and the club is hoping the money raised will help.    The Club had...

    The Commitment Point

Posted 2 years ago by AmSnow
There comes a point in every great sledders history that they find that commitment point.  What I mean about THAT commitment point is the point in which you give up all logic and rational thinking and TRUST that your sled will recover any shred of talent you have left in your throttle thumb and pull it's self around to a manageable position and let you ride it out. Each stage of mastering long track mountain/deep powder riding has it's own learning curve.  Some of the video Ninj...

Northern Ontario Gets Pounded with Powder!

Posted 2 years ago by AmSnow
When we were told 7+ feet of powder existed within just 11 hours from Milwaukee, WI we couldn’t quite believe it, but it is true! Just north of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario (across the Soo Locks from Sault Ste Marie, Michigan) lies the Midwest’s best chance at BIG snow depths. Recently AmSnow visited the little town of Wawa, Ontario just a couple hundred kilometers (2.5 hours) north of the “Soo”.  Wawa is located off of the far eastern side of Lake Superior. What does ...

    AmSnow Weekend Update

Posted 2 years ago by Ross Halvorson
We braved the frigid temps and blizzard conditions last weekend in Michigan's UP to tour the trails and the backcountry in a couple different locations. We started off in Munising and then made our way up to Houghton and South Range. Here's a quick recap of the trip! I'm not sure why more people don't ride in Munising. It used to be THE place to go a few years back and not much seems to have changed. We did our share of riding on the 300+ miles of pristine trails and dabbled a b...

    Not Time To Go In!

Posted 2 years ago by mboncher
How do you know when it is not time to come in from a day of snowmobiling? When the wheel on your sled dolly miraculously disintegrates while you are trying to pull the sled back into the garage. I took it as a sign that I should go back out and ride some more. Hope everyone had a chance to ride this weekend! - Mark Boncher, Editor...

Backcountry clinic takes on Copper Harbor with confidence... and some bruises

Posted 2 years ago by AmSnow
Backcountry, beautiful and what some of us consider badass... in a good way. All these could describe the women and the terrain they took on at Diva SnowGear's backcountry clinic in Copper Harbor, Mich. Most women on this trip were Divas Snow Gear Ambassadors and they were all beautiful ladies inside and out, but the idea of breaking a nail while shredding the POW definitely didn't deter them. Backcountry guru Stephanie Schwartz flew in from British Columbia to teach these 20 women how t...

Back from the AmSnow NY Shootout

Posted 3 years ago by Ross Halvorson
We finally touched down back home after a long, but extremely awesome weekend at the American Snowmobiler / DynoTech Research NY Shootout. These were some of the best track conditions we’ve ever had for a snow drag event. Hard pack, 28-degrees and no wind to speak of made for some very quick times down the 1/4 mile.  Our stockers were again supplied by the good folks at D&D Performance (Yamaha, Arctic Cat – www.ddracing.com), Fun Unlimited (Polaris – www.fununlimitedp...

From tools to tapestry, we want to know what you'd recommend for the ultimate snowmobile garage! Make way for the snowmobiles! I mana...

Posted 3 years ago by Ross Halvorson
Snowmobile industry trade shows are in full swing from coast-to-coast. Just this past weekend alone saw shows in Edmonton, Alberta; Puyallup, Wash.; Augusta, Maine and Milwaukee, Wis. The fun never seems to end this time of year. Next weekend Toronto will welcome hoards of consumers, and more shows will follow right up until the snow flies. I spent the majority of this past weekend at the Snowmobile USA Snow Show in Milwaukee with nearly 15,000 of my closest friends. Shows like these provide a ...
