BlackJack Racing Hill Drag Opener Dec. 10th- Brantling
Posted by Blackjackracin on Monday, October 17, 2011 6:58 PM

The first hill drag race for B.J.R will be at Brantling Ski Center in Sodus N.Y.Dec..10th . All forcasts are calling for an early winter and with Brantlings State of the art snowmaking this race will most likely be a go! In the event of a no snow situation the race will be held the following weekend. As with all B.J.R races this one will be 100% payback !! Some changes in snopro and Promod classes so if any one is in need of a rule book give me a call and I can get one sent to you. This is the day after the SHOOTOUT in old forge and have had interest from some of the crews that will be attending that event to see what they can do on the hill. Should make things interesting.

Start wrenching this race will be on you before you know it!!!

Any questions give me a call after checking the website

Was at Jim's dyno last Mon. and he wouldn't give me #'s but hinted that your turbo would be running the numbers.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 10th, supposed to have early snow but as long as we have the temps kevin can lay down some serious snow in short order !!

    See Ya

Remember boys ,we added 800 and 1000 open mod this year ! We are going to try it with no weight rule unless we start seeing sleds made out of toilet paper and paper clips !! Get em light and fast but make sure they are safe !! All safety rules will still be in place but past that it's go time.Any rule questions give me a call as these classes were added after the book went to print and we trying these out to see how they work for you guys before we decide if any peticular rules are needed. Remember SNO PRO class rules have changed for this year so if you need a rule book give me a call and I can get one out to you.

    Thanks

    6" travel,

    snowflap,

    n/a,

    skis 40" long,

Ya it's a snow drag. The rules for promod right now require a min of 40" skis.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the 6" travel, are you planning on racing at Brantling?????

already commented on the 6" of static travel rule ,      i think a suspension that can static squat 6"  is to soft and unsafe at high speeds ,  i will also bet if i brought a tape and randum ck'd the pro-mods , some will not produce  that 6"  ,   a sled that does produce 6" of static squat to be safe would require a total of at least 10" of travel ,    if it only has 6" and static squats 6 "  it will bottom out up the hill on the big bumps and be just as unsafe as no travel at all .     as far as ski's we bought an expensive pair for snow dragging last year , and they are 30"    X  5"      ,    so NO ,     these rules their comming up with are off the cufff , and not well thought out.    i commented on the ski's   cuz its the 1st time i have ever seen a 40" minimum ski in any form of sled dragging .    not even sure all stock ski's are 40"   .....    lol     have at it guys and be safe hill crossingWink

that because most people build sleds around rules then the other hill drag organization will just add a class around your sled.

Most stock skis are 40-42". BUT, Who cares. If they ask for 50" skis, we'll put them on to go and race, because it's one hell of a good time.

Why don't you put some 40" skis and suspension under your sled, show up at a race and see just how much fun it is. I'm sure we could set you up with a nice parking spot so you can keep an eye on your tires.

we had fun running the sled up the hill and in snow drags just the way it is last season and will again this season ,  spent 400.00 on these 30" skis last year ,    and they work just fine.   keep your parking spot and 4:00 am in the morning finals and have fun   ....Smile         just was wondering the thinking behind the 40" ski rule ?      i can understand not wanting ice race skis out their ,   but 40"     your right though , if they go 50" you guys can double up and water cross those sleds to,  the 6" of travel will help ya jumping waves..lol

Here's my take.................let smarter than every hilldrag racer Ron (that has never won a round) run his sled up the hill with zero or little travel as many times as he likes (he will never win a round unless his competition breaks) and then worry about it. Have him sign a waiver and video him saying he is smarter than all of the current hilldrag champs. My bet is that he gets so embarassed he either never returns, or he conforms to the rules. Anyone wanna make some side bets?
