    1998 Ski-Doo voltage regulator problem
Posted by Hotrods on Monday, December 18, 2017 5:39 PM

1998 ski-doo Formula 380 fan converted to electric start, keeps blowing the headlight, it went from a 3 wire plug in regulator to a 4 wire regulator Red, Black, Yellow, and Green on the regulator and Red, Black, Yellow, and yellow black on the machine. can't seem to get it to regulate the voltage. give it just a small amount of gas and the dc voltage at the headlight goes up to 60 +volts. This was a manual start machine converted now to electric start any ideas on what could be the problem???

Done the voltage check and here is what we have, Yellow 7 to 8 AC volts idle 14.2 AC at 2000 rpm

Yellow black 7 to 8 AC idle 14.2 AC at 2000 RPM

    Red is 12 volt DC

At the headlight it reeds 12 to 14 AC idle 25 AC at 2000 RPM

It is like it is taping from both coils for the lighting circuit.
