    Hello everyone i just bought this sled (havent rode in like 10 years) but could anyone tell me things that i might want to look out for before i take it out and have  some fun. it has 3600 miles on it. the one thing that seems weird is that you have to get the rpms up to about 5k before the sled moves

    Dont drive it until u rebuild the drive clutch ! rebuild them shocks too ! i do that for 25.00 each

    Bypass the tss/kill switch, if it starts running bad check spark because stators are known to die, make the PTO (Clutch) side drive bearing greaseable. it is the one by where the speedometer cable goes in under the secondary clutch. Also, the high rpm angagement may be due to a "clutch kit" being in your sled. Between a higher spring rate primary spring and the primary weights they have raised the engagement. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but depending on your riding style it may be annoying and you may want to change it so it engages at a lower rpms. Do maintainence to it..rebuild the shocks, checkt he slides (hyfax) on it, check all wheels on the suspension to see if they spin freely. Keep the suspension greased on it. chek the overall health of the track. If it is studded make sure it isn't hitting the front heat exchanger. Check the track tension and adjust accordingly.Also check track alignment (Left and right) and keep it centered. Check teh scags (Runners on the bottom of the skis) to see how worn they are and replace as needed. Check how much brake pad is left on it.

    Not to be a stickler, but cat made the ZR580 EFI in 1997, based on the old zr chassis,  in 98 they came out with the zr2 chassis, first year of the "A" case 600 motors.

    I was thinking the same, 1998 is first year for ZR 600 reed case motor....manufacture sticker may read 1997 :)
