Were did you see this? Dynotech showed pretty good numbers with updates last I saw,

Yup, just went over to dynotechresearch.com and looked again, Can't tell you exact #'s, you need a membership for that and it wouldn't be right of me to post them but, Updated at 50 degrees(meaning more HP at colder temp) '09 with all updates was real close to last years advertised and '10 is right there to. Even better with DYNOPORT mods and air mods. And nice wide band.

Yeh, I wish POO would make a 185+HP machine to. Hearing killer stuff about the FST mods.

May your gaurdian angels ride as fast as you. God made man, Man made POO.

yes fresh out the crate, i couldn`t see the exact number "my computer refreshes the page every 2 sec" but i heard "todd" from white lake say high 140`s, then they put a PCV on it, "jims setup" and then it made it`s advirtised hp, big woop!, now i gotta buy $700 in electronics. the 800 doo,,,,right after that made 155 no problem! i would never buy a doo,,, but come on POLARIS!  enough is enough already! i bought a 07 dragon 700, had ALOT of tuning issues,  pol finaly got it right, bought a 09 dragon 800, ran like a turd last year! i really hope the new update works!  "please god!

It's the PCIII unit. As normal, Polaris is forced by EPA to go fat to pass emesions. Imports for some reason have less scrutiny from the EPA.

that`s horse s--t, EPA   yea yea, you would figure, they would go "lean" if it had to do with emmision`s, not rich!, again, polaris is spending way too much time on there motorcycles!!!!!!!!  i`m sure they COULD make a mean sled, if they wanted to!!!!!!!!!! there is no excuse, for the D8 to run so crappy. especially now that the cat 8 is making 160plus!

I don't know what everyone expected but its still the same basic engine as last year with the exception its suppose to be reliable now. Thats has to count for something.

When Polaris first came out, it was supposely for them to say 154hp on last year's version and as it turned out it was 145. I dont blame any Polaris faithfulls to be angry about it and thats one of the reasons why I wont give up my XCR8. I thought I read it somewhere that Polaris finally got the Dragon 800 all figure out for 2010, and that it would be close to 154hp range like it was supposed to be?? And that the 2009s was supposed to have their updates done to them - what happened? If the Dragon 800s doesnt live up to its name again, then you can expect me ... not to buy the new Polaris 800 RUSH for next year if they come out with one. COME ON POLARIS, GIVE US WHAT WE WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WL.

    what?

ever since 01 polaris has been telling us how great and how much performance there 800 twins are going to law down.  they have yet to get much past the hp mark of an old storm.

you put 500 into electronics on your dragon plus 400 for a clutch kit and gearing.  I will put the same amount of money into an old storm, in the 1/4 mile drags or speed runs.  at its best the dragon would be lucky to come within 5-7 mph of the old storm.  oh but they ride better.  for the 10 grand you wasted on a sled that you have to tow back to the truck i would put m-10 air wave under the sled with fox floats up front, same track you have under your dragon and still have 6 grand left over for gas.  or maybe pipe it and port it, then i would be at the 170 hp mark with full air ride,  you would still be waiting for your warrenty.

if god wanted an 1000 twin to be fast he would have made it a triple.

did you have any luck with the imp. last year?  its a good looking sled so that has to add some speed?

the price is going to be an 87 octane pump gas trail motor with stock carbs.  I have been living in north dakota for this year and next year so dont know what will happen after the holidays.  might be back at work or might have more time off?

It is not a TURD, get a dynotechresearch.com membership and see . It got great 3's with the update kit.. Not to mention,That machine has the best suspension in it's class in my never humble opinion, Best ergos also. Funny thing is equal mods to equal mods, the dragon holds it's own against all factory deliveries HP. numbers and become way more nasty on the trail than the competitors.

HP is important, and yes, POLARIS should have delivered the #'s they promised by all means at their disposal, Even if it raised the cost of the machine, But, If it's all about HP. sometimes, performance gets neglected. And by no means has the performance of that machine been negleclted. Put a fuel controller on it and be happy.

i have heard of some fast ones out there.  the one had 10 tooth drivers, good studding, pcIII controler, geared a little taller and good clutching, was running 119 mph on ice for top speed.

I would love to shohorn in a nice xcr 8, in that chassis, then you would have something, this twin 800 *** is for the birds, I am actually looking at the ac z1 lxr turbo, if I am going to spend the money its going to be something worth wiled.  That sled, with just a boondocker box, is capable of a consistant 225 all day on the trail, and well if your playing on the lake just turn her up and rip on it..... I know it would be hard to swallow until you fly by all the slow 800 polaris die hards..........

By the way, if your wondering, I own 02 1000Xedge, 00 800XCR, 96ultraSP and 440 fan 01, yes I am loyal polaris, but they are outguned, and I don't like being outgunned........

i agree to some extent, i just wish they would start to prioritize their efforts more towards sleds "basically their foundation" in an effort to catch up to the others!. lets hope they improve on their "turbo" sled, maybe 1000 cc, that would definatley spark some intrest,in the "faithful", because stock for stock, the 800 is non impresive! i have a 01 800 non pv, with twin pipes, and clutching, etc, that literaly will smoke my 09 dragon ,at any speed. now i know my 01 has 147hp, so it should at least be close, is the mtr/clutching that bad, it pulls 8100, so it should be right there,,, i dunno,,,,,, well see,,, i want to throw stuff at it,,,, but am leary, until the "mapping issue is solved" maybe polaris should call dynojet for some fuel maps? ohhhhhhhhhhh

I've been following this thread since it started. I don't disagree the Polaris 800 missed in terms of advertised HP and certainly had a ring / piston issue. However, the 800r is by no means a rocket ship. I have a 07 700 dragon with an SLP pipe, that is the only change from stock. I may be pushing 140 to 142 HP. Last year I raced a stock XP 800r, 600 to 700 miles on it, and we were dead even on take off, mid range and top end. If the 800r is so great by achieving 150 plus HP, why is my dragon even in the race... It will be very interesting to see real world results on all 3 800 motors in this winters shootout. As for the 01 800, I agree that was a fast sled... I had an 02 with the value, which was just as faster or faster. But, it would never compete in the trails with the low profile track. Increase the lug height to 1.25 and see if you pull the same top end.

well,,,,, it looks like i`m gonna have to buck up, for the PC5, POLARIS so far is not responding too well to our complaints, about the "mapping issues" with this sled,  we got some snow now, and i refuse to ride this machine, running this way,  it is ridiculous!, i`m totally happy otherwise, the sled handels great, possibly the best, ive ridden!, has anybody had any luck reaching somebody @ POLARIS???????
