Cat unveils "fastest trio" |

Arctic Cat surprised some folks at Hay Days this year by announcing three new 2009 sleds: the M8 HCR, Sno Pro 600 and Z1 Turbo Sno Pro. It’s touting the trio as the "world’s fastest snowmobiles."
M8 HCR – The M8 HCR is aimed directly at the hill climb racer, (HCR get it?) only 500 will be made, with 100 going to racers. Cat announced the sled as being only 457-lbs. and has Cat's new telescoping steering post. Weight saving begins with a light Boss seat, titanium springs in the drive clutch and ski shocks. Cat says that cuts 9 lbs. right there. Other changes include new skis with a taller more aggressive keel and an adjustable 42-44-in. ski stance. There's also new coil-over IFP gas shocks up front. In back Cat adds FOX Float and Zero Pro shocks on the rear suspension and there’s a new harder-durometer Power Claw track. Cat says the 153-incher’s single-ply technology will give it better bite in hard pack conditions.
Z1 Turbo Sno Pro – Cat already has a Z1 Turbo in its 2009 lineup, now it adds a Sno Pro version of the 177-horse 4-stroke. This is the sled Cat proudly boasts as the fastest production snowmobile. The Sno Pro adds FOX Float shocks up front and a 2-in. diameter IFP shock in back, and it’s set up for aggressive riders. In addition, Cat puts a 5-in. riser on its adjustable handlebar system to make it easier to stand on the inter-cooled turbo when the terrain turns tough. Under this Cat is a 15x 28-in. single-ply Cobra track with 1.25-in. lugs. Team Arctic says that like its M8 HCR, only 500 of these Sno Pro units will be made this year.
Sno Pro 600 – Arctic Cat builds on the success of the Sno Pro 600 it introduced to the racing world last season. There will be more coming on this race sled, but its new 600cc race engine burns 92-octane gas and has 5% more power in the mid and upper ranges.
