The third race of the Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Hillclimb Association season was recently held in Montpelier, Idaho, on February 10.

Polaris Rider Keith Curtis won the 600 and 700 Pro Stock classes in impressive fashion while Team Arctic rider, David McClure, also won more than once taking home the Stock 800 and the Pro 600 Improved Stock class titles. Ski-Doo rider Vinnie Clark blazed to victory in the Pro 1000 Stock class and fellow Ski-Doo rider Brad Sharp was the victor of the Pro Masters Stock class.

In the Pro 700 Improved Stock category, Erin Beukelman took top honors on a Polaris and in the Pro 800 Improved Stock Ski-Doo's Justin Jacobson was best. The Cat team took home another win in the Pro 1000 Improved Stock as Ty Free was victorious. Ski-Doo's Brad Sharp took the top spots in both the Pro Masters Improved and Modified categories. A Sharp performance was also put in by David Sharp Jr. who won the Semi-Pro Improved Stock and Modified classes.

Cat aficionado Nate Zollinger won the Pro 600 Modified class while Polaris rider Jeremy Osler threw down some sweet runs to win the Pro 700, 800, and Open modified classes. Radley Gladfelder won the Semi-Pro Stock class on his Ski-Doo as well.

Not to be outdone by the guys, Amy Zollinger won both the Women's Stock and Improved Stock races on her Arctic Cat while Christy Frisby took home the Women's Modified win on her Cat. Parker Sampson also won the Juniors class on a Cat.

"To win so many classes proves the talent and dedication of our riders," said Al Shimpa, Team Arctic Hillclimb Coordinator.

The Bear Lake Hillclimb's course had snow, exposed rocks, brush and the usual assortment of deep holes, gaining about 1,500 vertical feet with times hovering around one minute.

"You could tell from his [McClure] first run up the mountain that he was going to win some races. The same was true for many of our racers," said Shimpa.
