SnoPro Mafia snags top prize!
Sno Pro Mafia, winner of video competition takes on ERX race in March.
Congrats to
SnoPro Mafia, a trio of Minnesota
snowmobilers and video buffs, who are our first AmSnow Video contest winners.
We knew you
snowmobile lovers (our die-hard Web and magazine readers) could crank out a fun
and funky snowmobile video. SnoPro Mafia did it best!
Back in our February issue we issued
the challenge ... show us why you love snowmobiling. Some of the videos were
interesting, but off the theme, and some were, well, not of the highest quality,
nor suitable for everyone's eyes.
But we did have several that showed
considerable editing efforts with some nice snowmobiling footage. A collection
of entries is posted up on the Web site now under user-submitted videos. Take a
look, if you dare!
Our Winner .... Taylor Ehresman, the
brains behind SnoPro Mafia; his buddy Jerett Miner; and the video man, Sean
Catelberry, who was sidelined this past season with a torn ACL.
Taylor tells us he has
been riding since he was 3, first on a Kitty Cat that he literally rode to
death, sinking it in a river. He then purchased a 1995 Ski-Doo Summit, the
first sled he bought for himself, and bought a 2004 Arctic Cat SnoPro 440 this
January, as he recently started racing snocross.
"I enjoy racing, ditch-banging, and
free-riding but I also like a nice cruise on the trails," he says, adding, "I
just live to snowmobile."
Taylor
says the trio, and a bunch of his other buddies ride mostly around his hometown
of Motley Minn.
And the runner-up comes from Canada ...Glenn
Joe Nice, 33, is from Quispamsis,
New Brunswick. He works as a
longshoreman and seasonally for the NB Department of Transportation.
Glenn, who submitted a couple
videos you can see online, says he started riding in a Ski-boose as a baby, graduated
to a Kitty Cat at age 3 (sounds familiar) and by 6 was riding on a 1977 El Tigre
5000. He now owns a modified 2001 600 Polaris XC (his favorite for the moment) and
a 2008 Polaris Turbo Switchback (seen a lot in one of his videos).
"My parents live on a river system
that once frozen, enables me to ride all over NB without having to trailer.
This past winter I put on over 7,000 miles around our province. It's a good mix
of trails, groomed and ungroomed, wide open to narrow switchbacks in the
woods."
Everyone got a collection of
goodies from our schwag closet, including some snowmobiling DVDs, T-shirts,
sled stickers and more. Congrats to all!
