Ohio changes snowmobile registration requirements

Snowmobilers in Ohio will need to be aware of new registration requirements this season after a all-purpose vehicle registration law went into effect on July 1, according to the Zanesville Time Recorder.

The new law passed will require all snowmobiles to be registered whether they are used on the owner's property or out on public trails, with only one exception.

Before this law there was an exception that allowed private land owners to use their snowmobiles on their land with out registering them. Snowmobiles used primarily for farm use do not have to be registered.

In addition, after July 1, 2010 all snowmobiles will be required to have validation stickers and a license plate.

The law, also, created a stiffer fine for criminal trespassing with a APV, all-purpose vehicle.
