Re: Rafferty wins at SnoBash

Brian (Bman), I don't usually like to get involved in these things, but enough is enough... Mickey's 800 ran good at the 2003 Haydays, it won all 3 classes, Congratulations to him and John Scnieder for that accomplishment... But his sleds are not untouchable... Have him and all of your 800's and 1000's come to the Top Gun shootout and we'll all "Get in On" .  Tillbury is right in the middle of the East and us here in the West, and we'll all find out if they are 2 tenths faster than everbody else, and it was just bad luck... We all have to qualifly, everybody pulls back equal amount, I doubt that you guys will be running in the low 60's with the wt on... If you do, more power to you... Mickey does build a good skid, but not necessarily the absolute best... I know, I've had a Wahl, a Proline, and Mickey's all in mine... I happen to run my slowest times with Mickey's suspension, but that could have been my fault, don't know.. Mickey was great and tried to help me in any way he could... Stop all the name calling and childish bickering and show up at Top Gun, I'd love to find out... Chad Ouverson

Bman , I get a kick out of your worshipping and Mickey bragging  , , , If you take your tongue out of his cakehole long enough , you would see its you guys that havnt come to the major events beside your east races . I dont have a problem believing that your 800's are fast nor do I care  , they just arent 2 tenths faster then ours (west guys 800's)  . I suppose your 1000's are running 2 tenths faster too ! . come to the Top gun and you will find how much running start you can get on Chris's timing system . Unlike what you stated earlier , us west racers do not hate you in any way shape or form !  you and all your fellow eastcoast boys come and I will make sure I have a cold canadian beer for ya all !!! Hello Dean. I was at Sno Bash as a spectator. In my opinion you need to work out some kinks. As you can tell by reading this post you need to get a new tech man. I also think you need to shorten your racing schedule by getting rid of classes. I'd like to see a NHRA style Shoot out (Pro Only) race held at your track. $100.00 dollar entry fee per class, 100 % pay back to the racers. The classes as follows. Top Fuel, anything goes, Pro Stock Open, any engine size no weight, open mod 1000, 800, bore and stoke, Pro stock 1000, 800, bore and stroke, 625 lbs, Improved stock 1000, 800, bore and stroke, 775lbs and Stock 1000, Bore and stroke, 700lbs. I'll be your tech man, only rules are bore and stroke and weight. Any engine in any chassis, this will bring out racers and there will be no conflict. If your interested please call me, 203-509-4859. I love everybody involved in this sport and would like to see it grow, I'm also a great announcer, I'd like to sit next to Jim King in the booth.

I like your way of thinking on how to run the classes but since our team is a stocker team I only have a question on that class (Stock 1000) on how you would run it.  Would everyone have to be 700lbs no matter what sled they are on?  Thats just alot of weight to add for the new XP (50lbs), not complaining just stating.  That would be a cool race though.  Oh one more question, if you run NHRA style bracket for all the classes you only run two lanes right?  I feel like a dum-dumb but had to ask.

THE ***** RIPS so JUST PIN IT!!

and by the way..... I'm not Kory!!

There is an offer that would be hard to refuse.  After listening to the recording of bottoms up, I fear after the club is done paying the fines to the FCC this would all be a huge financial loss for the club.  No disrespect meant-but you have a bad mouth, you even swore at your mother during the show.

Dear Sir

I would have to say that your comments about how people have to be isolated from the racers is imposable what you have to have is some one with what the world lacks is moral fiber or is honest. I know in this world it is hard to believe that some one like that would exist but there are a few one individual that i would suggest is MYRON PARENT. He is the HEAD TECH OFFICAL for NSRA, CMSA, NSDRA, and He was asked by american snowmobiler to tech the manufactors shot out the last two years. He and Jordie tech to gether and between the two of then they make one of the nations best TECH OFFICIALS while still being friends with all racers and manufactors. Fairness is what Myron and Jordie want for all the racers. He is also very knowlageable about raceing considering that he raced him self.

Re: Rafferty wins at SnoBash

This whole thread thread is just rediculous. The initial statement was supposed to be a simple congrats but the author felt it neccesary to throw a shot in at the tech director to stir up the s%*t. And of course then it started. The first thing that should be pointed out is all this controversy happened at PRERACE inspection, not POSTRACE inspection. This gave anyone and everyone with a problem the opportunity to fix it BEFORE racing. As a result EVERYBODY RACED!!!! The ONLY person that didn't get to race all their sleds was Mickey. He chose not to run all of his sleds because he could not devote the proper attention to both. Now only 2 people were mentioned on here that had any issue with Mickeys pretech and one of them has respectfully not posted or responded to this at all. He simply fixed what he needed to and went racing. The second has cried about being picked on because he feels he needs special treatment because of who he is. He feels that because his designs are so high tech he should simply be excused from the whole tech process. Rich you are just upset because Mickey didn't let you do just that. Other racers in Rich's class should applaud Mickey for standing up for the rules. He made Rich follow the rules, just like all the rest of you did when building your sleds. The owner/or driver of the sled has the burden of proving his or her sled meets the rules printed in the rule book not the race director. For example in the general rules and regulations section in the front of the book, it states, and I quote "At the safety inspection, track suspension travel will be measured vertically at the rear bumper." There are also 5 rules regarding mudflaps in the same section. There is also rule #10 in the frame & body section of the general rules that states "all snowmobiles will be equipped with an upholstered, padded seat minimum thickness one (1) inch,......." Rich if you feel that your sled is technologically advanced beyond the classes than I'm sure you could just run it as an exibition for the crowd. Thats what other guys do and have done when their sleds haven't met any specific classes but want the people to see what other kind of products are out there. And as a final note people did complain to nhra about the funny car header pipes, the top fuel guys. Thats why you don't see the dragster vs funny car race any more.

Re: Rafferty wins at SnoBash

Its 1 am i just came in from the shop & i see you worried about a 2" mud flap on an open mod & my seat. Now I will post what really lit me off with your tech buddy. Sat he informed me when I told him my sled weighed 298 ( with a good suspension , cat f-7 frt shocks) he said next year he would MAKE SURE ALL OPEN MODS WEIGHED 500LBS with a driver. He can't build a light sled so he will go to the rules & whine about open mods. I weigh 150 lbs so then I mentioned  driver weight & he said open mod drivers should be experienced & licensed. That's interesting coming from a guy who just put a rookie on for this race & in past years put a rookie girl on. Last I knew open mod was for tech development. How about SUNDAY morning when he told Kirsch we couldn't use the electric starter on the line had to start back in warm up. MAYBE because I had AIR COOLED HEADS.WE HAD held nobody up. Spike the starter said we could start on the line just like Sat. I responded to this post only to alert other racers to stand up for whats right & if to alert people at the ISR meeting to watch out for people trying to change the rule to eliminate competition. I will be the first to admit my sleds can look sketchy so peel that duct tape back & look at it. By the way tough guy my seat is legal. I have celiac disease & bad bone density so I use stiff foam & slight flex in case  I spike a big bump. One last thing I think Ohio has always done a  great job improving  the event each year & I consider this an unfortunate personallity conflict. One last thing please reread my post on how suspension works you still don't get it.

JMO-- but..this all does make all snowmobilers look a tad bit retarded..fighting amoung themselves..Daly is right about the suspension thing..if the suspension has the ability to move the 2" then it should be legal...surely wouldn't want any sag built into something that only moves 2"...i could explain sag (suspension sag ! )and all that but it's a waste of time..we don't do the grass races..might happen, depends on the kido..but i'm confused here...seems to me this forum is being used by this bman person to try to hook up with the mickey person..think there are other places on the internet for that kind of thing...LMAO...Rich-  sorry about the Celiac disease..my 16 yr old has it..no fun at all// try to find anything good to eat that doesn't have gluten in it..good luck...

Re: Rafferty wins at SnoBash

Rich I understand about suspensions, but how do you expect the tech directors (regardless who they are) to enforce any rules when you don't show them any proof of merit. If your suspension is so out of the box then you must design a way to prove that it works for the tech inspectors to approve it. How many rules would be broken if everybody said, "my _____ is so high tech you can't check it." Like I said this was all done in prerace tech so everybody had the ability to get their sleds corrected and have a fair race. That should be applauded not ridiculed. And Rich I do understand how suspensions work and also how easy it is to drop a block inside the shock to limit travel. This is a practice that was used before the rule and one of the things they were trying to eliminate. As far as your seat, again you looked at only the part of the rule I posted that was legal about your seat and not the other, either you ignored it because your seat doesn't meet that requirement, or like many other rules "YOU" feel it is not important.

Re: Rafferty wins at SnoBash

Hopefully,, I sit and wish that Snowmobile  (ICE AND GRASS DRAG)  racing and the people involved with it will come to there senses.

You cannot demonstrate a properly valved and sprung racing shocks full travel without removing it's spring .

Maybe tech should allow the racer to remove the spring load for the inspection of travel and or it's limits. ??
