Cool New Racing Related Toolbar for your computer

Hello all, i have been building this new toolbar that is set up with many common shortcut links to racing related websites, racing related calculators (MPH, gearing, ect.) as well as your local weather forcast.  There is several shortcuts to all the popular sled sites as well, even though we know amsnow is the best.  There is also a chat room that is tied into the toolbar, so those with the toolbar can chat.

Give it a try, I can add almost anything to it, so if you think that should be another calculator of some kind or maybe another performance vendor added, just shoot me an email at nlantto@charter.net and i will add it.  If you think anything should be removed, let me know just the same.

Get it here. http://sledracing.ForumToolbar.com

Thanks,

Speednutt

Thanks for all your PM's.  I have added more links to the toolbar per your requests.

The guys at hardcore sledder are loving it too.

Re: Cool New Racing Related Toolbar for your computer

Good Start, I down loaded & checked it out.   add mrrsidr.com  to your listings.

On another note.  Gear & mph calc worked fine .... Jet calc opened with office.org & couldn't make it work.

Suggestions

Add a calc using a rad meter for jetting

Add charts for 4 mgf drive & driven Spring Charts...

Keep up the good work !  MMR

Re: Cool New Racing Related Toolbar for your computer

Ok, the website is added.

On the jetting chart, that is an Excel file.  I will get that converted to html so it works for everyone.

If you (or anyone else) is able to send me those spring rate charts, i would be more than happy to put them up.

I have never seen a rad chart?  Dont get this confused with not nowing what it it, i just have never seen the chart.  Most rad guages are a little different anyway to my understanding.

Keep the ideas coming, the more ideas the better.

C R A P !!! I went in through internet explorer & none of my long rendition of the Rad gauge showed up .. I'll get back to that later.

Speednut here is a link to some spring info.  Getting both Drive & driven Sp info really is what would make this info useful.

www.hiperf.com/acatalog/Snowmobile_Catalog_Polaris_Driven_Springs_180.html

I got this off an inquiry I made on here under the Polaris Tab. I think you can get links to all 4 Mgf spring info if you just go on here and Tab/ask on a the brand specific forum.  MMR

Yes your toolbar is getting better all the time. My question is, if I give you Rad Meter info are you going to be able to convert it into a fill in the blank formula or is it going to be only useable as reference paragraph of info ?   MMR

if you can give me the formula, i can make it work where you just enter your info.  I will make a webpage for it if i have to.

Well if you have a link-able formula post it. With mine, Nate will  have to build a web page.  I have the formula  but its sort of a story vs a just type in the #  and have a  page that does the calculations for you.

I'll go ahead & post my stuff now & maybe you can come up with something better.

Here are my notes.

Initially you need the following

A Rad Meter

A Thermometer

A known altitude

All your jetting specs on the carbs

A RAD Meter cannot be used to find the initial jetting.  You must field test to find this. The Rad meter is a reference point that you can use to calculate mostly main jet changes as the weather changes. So what you initially have to do is test until you find the magic in your motor on its best pass with just jetting changes.  I call this the Perfect Base #. aka ( PB)  When you find this write down all the jet info, the temp the Rad # and the altitude. From here you can make some reasonable calculations on jetting changes as the weather changes that day or the next weekend.

Here are some of my gleaned thoughts with my experience playing around with this in the winter  at different altitudes and temperature. This is regardless of weather the RAD meter itself reads the same as it did on your PB set up

1. A sled loses 1% of its HP for every rise in elevation of 500 ft above (PB). So if this occurs jet down 1%

2. A sled gains 1% of its Hp  if temp drops 10 degrees from (PB) So if this occurs jet up 1%

3. This is mostly MJ but if your running into a huge swing in parameters from your (PB) parameters then you might consider other parts of your carb jets like AS or Pilot jet.

BY example.

lets say your PB is found to be a 800 MJ at 106.5 Rad at 20 degrees at 1100 ft above sea level

Base jet is 800

Base Rad is 106.5

Bast temp is 20

Elevation is 1100 ft

Next day out,  Rad is reading 102, Temp about same & your at the same location

So here is the formula for new MJ

( Base Jet x New RAD) divided by BASE RAD = new MJ or 766 MJ

This may not be exact but it does give you a decent guess on jetting to find the magic under different air quality conditions.

Note if you find yourself in conditions that are much superior or must inferior to your PB , you may consider more or less weight in the clutch to compensate for more or less available motor HP

Maybe someone has more that they can add to improve or correct anything I've said.

Let me see the excel version.   I want to see how it is layed out.  What are the calculations for making big changes when elevation is involved and so forth.

Re: Cool New Racing Related Toolbar for your computer

i found a rad sheet in excel.  It will take a day or two to make it in html.  There is a lot of calculations.

Do you want the full version?  figuring in berimetric pressure, relative Humidity, and saturation pressure and of course temperature.  Is there any veriations from these peramiters?

Speednutt

ps.  I am working on other formula pages that have been sent to me  as well.  They are in excel, but i am working on putting them into html so everyone can use them.

If you can make it so we don't have to fill in things like Humidity, to make it work then I guess it doesn't matter.  MMR

Re: Cool New Racing Related Toolbar for your computer

what is an average humidity?  I can make so it uses the average humidity all the time.  and just keep that part blind.  I could also have a check box, if its checked, you supply the humidy, if no check in the box then it calculates with the average humidity.

Re: Cool New Racing Related Toolbar for your computer

I'm not sure. In winter jetting its more or less a non factor. I used to ck it but it always seemed the same & I don't recall what that # was.Try punching in 40% & 70% & see how much change you get in jet #. MMR

yes, all of it is.

I want to convert to html so everyone can open them, but there is a password on all the formulas.

If i cant convert those over, i will just put them up in excel form

Re: Cool New Racing Related Toolbar for your computer

Anyone else have suggestions to add to the toolbar?  I am working on some ideas from others, but they are pretty in depth and will require a greater deal of time than what i have available now.  Be a summer project.
