Amsnow/ DTR Adirondack Shootout XX update

Friday December 11 is the date, Woodgate NY is the location once again for the 20th annual Shootout.

Participating dealers: Smith Marine Again Skidoo, White Lake Polaris (under new ownership), Ed Frederick & Sons Arctic Cat, and Excell Motorsports Yamaha.

Ed Fredericks & Sons was selected to replace Big Moose for the Arctic Cats because of last years cheating situation with the Big Moose Xfire 1000, but the Big Moose Yamaha group was still welcome. But because of the switch in Cat dealers, Big Moose co-owner Phil Martin decided to not provide the Yamahas either. So thats why Aaron Excell Yamaha joins us this year.

We have hired a contractor to smooth the track to prevent Rich Daly on his PS1000 from looking like Levi LaVallee at the X Games again. Should be flat as a pooltable for the Lakeracer mods to run quickly and safely.

Judging from early phone calls to me and AmSnow, aftermarket participation this year should be good as ever. AmSnow has room for about 20 trail mods/ lakracers in the eight full pages Mark Boncher has been able to devote to Shootout XX.  As always AmSnow requires all mod sleds to be provided by or sponsored by AmSnow display advertisers. Call me at 585-993-2777 for details, and to discuss advertising at AmSnow call ad manager Jamie 262-796-8776.

I'll post a list of stock machines expected to run in a few days, and a list of mod machines entered by our Aftermarket high performance companies as slots are taken.

I think a huge thank you is in store to Big Moose Arctic/Yamaha for supplying 2 brands of sleds, studs, trucks, trailers, people ect for the past 19 years.  Nobody knows that this is a out of pocket expense (donation) by every dealer involved and returns little, if anything at all.    Without the dealers, there is no show, there is no articles in the magazines to sell subscriptions. Factory support does not exist for the event.  I hope everyone out there can give a big thank you to every dealer involved, past and present.

Re: Amsnow/ DTR Adirondack Shootout XX update

Erv yes i agree, the Big Moose Yamaha guys have been great partners for 19 years, and the Big Moose Arctic Cat guys have been great partners for 18 years. Lots of work on everyone's part. It was disappointing to see the BM Cat guys hose us needlessly (who was the XFire 1000 running against?) the first year AmSnow was back with us after their hiatus, especially after George Taylor and I promised Mark Boncher bone, bone stock machines to compare. Plus George Taylor and I implored all partner dealers at the meeting before last years shootout that this must be a flawless shootout if we want to have AmSnow to continue being our partner. So after last year's debacle it was a stretch for Mark Boncher to promise his upper mgt "better" for XX, and thus allow XX to happen. So a Cat dealer change, understandably, had to be made. Then I was very disappointed when Big moose co-owner Phil Martin told me they wouldn't participate with the Yamahas either. Jack Lloyd and his BM Yamaha cronies have been great fun to deal with, from setup/ stud party to dyno certification at DTR to shootout to banquet and afterwards. Plus having Jon Martin along to provide armed security was a good thing.

Also keep in mind that StudBoy donates a pallet full of trail carbide studs each year for the stockers in exchange for them being the Shootout sponsor. That doesn't diminish, though, the effort and expense the dealers provide to participate each year. You guys should all buy Studboy stuff.

No, anyone can enter a sled if they are sponsored by an aftermarket company that will have a display ad in the American Snowmobiler Shootout issue. Ie: if you have a hot sled with D&D parts on it, D&D can approve you as a sponsored entrant in either trail mod (max 2" lower than stock, stock track, real trail carbides, pump gas supplied by us) or lake mod (anything goes). Or if you have for example Jaws pipes and a very good machine, perhaps jaws would take a display ad (mimimum $485ish) in AmSnow for that issue and sponsor you. Then the sled owner pays the $500 entry fee and gets two banquet tickets.

I think they" DTR and Amsnow" want to use the F8 Sno Pro on purpose .....the fact that it is heavier than the CFR8 and has the deep lug track will slow it down and make the class look closer than what it really is .....

Re: Amsnow/ DTR Adirondack Shootout XX update

I'm thinking that AmSnow suggested the F8 vs Crossfire is the F8 is what seems to be selling best? Besides, 25 lb heavier but 5 hp more seems to me the F8 will hold its own. Just got done dynoing both sleds today with D&D Dale testing Ypipes and pipes and the F is surely more powerful bone stock. Plus we're running a crossfire 1000 so we have that for comparo.

If you Guys get the Tail End of the Storm that's going to hit Us this weekend, you should have lots of white stuff still on the Ground when it's time for the Shootout! We are supposed to get over 30 cms. ( = 12 inches) between this Friday and Sunday!

Good Luck!
