Asphalt Sleds at AMA

Would like to ask a question of Asphalt racers. How many Pro Stock snowmobiles that are NSDRA and NSA legal would be interested in racing at Valdosta on March 6th 7th and 8th with the AMA. There is also testing the whole week before the race, and a week after the race. You would also be able to race at the World Finals in November.

Re: Asphalt Sleds at AMA

Dave, i was actually just talking to a buddy of mine about this very thing. its a good possibility i would come. im NSA legal as long as an IHRA license is acceptable?? otherwise would somehow have to get NHRA license down there?

Re: Asphalt Sleds at AMA

There is a good possibilty this will happen. The NSA and NSDRA rules are pretty much the same, except the use of the pink, blue, and tan wire. This would have to be made the same for all those that attend. We accept NHRA and IHRA license.

Re: Asphalt Sleds at AMA

There would only be one class, at Valdosta, and there would only be one class at Norwalk and Martin. We have to do some thinking about how we go about this. If we could get a large amount of entries of pro stock sleds at Valdosta, and a field of 9 outlaw sleds at Martin. We could run the races at Martin and Norwalk with Outlaw sleds, and Pro Stock sleds at Valdosta. And we could possibly run both classes at the World Finals in Valdosta. As for 1500,s we could look at adding weight to anything over a thousand cc,s,  to say 700pds for pro stock. Or we could give a weight break to any sled running N/A in the Outlaw class. All suggestions are good, but don,t carry a lot of weight if you don,t attend anyway. Something for consideration.

          N/A up to 1016cc,s 575 pds        NOS  675 pds

N/A up to 1500cc,s 625 pds        Turbo Charged or supercharged 725 pds

N/A up to 2000cc,s 650 pds         You can run twins, triples, or four cylinders.

Re: Asphalt Sleds at AMA

Hey Dave would be nice to have a large group of sleds. we are making plans now to go to valdosta in march to test a new set up. Also wanted to go to all 4 races. Whatever you come up with for weights to run all together works for us. 725 sounds good for us but cant speak for others.

Thanks Dennis

Re: Asphalt Sleds at AMA

We are trying to see how many Pro Stock sleds will come to Valdosta for the AMA race on March 6th, 7th, and 8th. We presently have eight , the rules would be the same as NSA and NSDRA as they are structured alike. The Outlaw sleds would be able to come to the test session, which is a week before, and a week after the AMA race. The weight I mentioned are for Outlaw class, which would be run at Martin Mich, and Norwalk Ohio. Sorry If I confused some. The test sessions are sponsored by SGMP (South Georgia Motorsports Park) Go to there web site to sign up for the test sessions. These have nothing to do with the AMA.

Looks like we have 7 confirmed, Ron McBurney

                                               Pete and Tina Duncanson

                                               Bill Bicteman

                                               Steve Petske

                                               CK 31006 (Andy)

                                               Louie Warble

                                               Mike Larson

                                          ????????????????/

                                                Paul Austin

                                                Ed Elgin

                                                Jim Marston and Family

Everyone is invited to come, there will be testing on Friday before the race. And you can also stay from the 9th to the 13th for ESTN Pro testing with the NHRA Pro Cars. Hopefully I can talk AMA into having the Outlaw class also, if we get enough interested in coming.

Re: Asphalt Sleds at AMA

Hi Dave, Thought this should be back at the top in case somebody new is building. 75% Chance I'll make it depends on how busy the shop is in March & it falls on a weekend with no hill drags.
