 This is true, I acknowledge that. I meant to say I think he is an OK guy from the little I have talked to him and associated with him, and I'm not even an AC guy...  I didn't mean to imply it was OK for him to shmooze everyone, please forgive me. I agree it doesn't look good for him at ALL and it's evident it's pissed a ton a people off.

But, please enlighten us on exactly what he did? You don't know do you... Farfetched as it sounds, what if he didn't do anything outside of stock? Your hanging him before he's tried... and I don't agree with that one bit. I am NOT saying that he didn't or he's NOT guilty, I am just saying you wouldn't like me calling you a cheater at a race having you get your 1500 DQ'd without ever being tech'd, now would you?

Assumption is the mother of all F'up's... be careful. No doubt the truth will come out and repercussions accordingly.

No one has yet to say what was done to this sled !! all I have heard is that it ran to fast to be stock !! was it teched or not --what was done ?? are we going to crucify Vince for being smug or did he actually do something and if he did what !! This will settle the argument --WHAT WAS DONE --show the world !!!  

Thank goodness they didnt do it with a yamaha, this would have been 500 pages of why they had to cheat with a yamaha because they cant compete, heavy, 4 stroke vs 2 stroke,etc. would have been endless in the beatings..

They cheated, doesnt really matter with what they did to the sled, AND  they got caught! Once you get caught, youll wear the cheater title for the rest of your life. That alone will be alot of punishment.

 I talked to a gentleman earlier today that brought some sleds to the shootout and he is saying porting. I guess he was one of the ones that pointed this sled out.

in my past 35 yrs. in business i have recruited, hired, trained, managed & employed hundreds of people in both manufacturing & sales. i can say with confidence that this was not an idea formulated & implemented by vince the tech guy. he is taking the heat but i'm sure he only carried out the directives of management.

I feel bad for Jim, Bill  and the guys here on Amsnow as it does to some degree taint the results. However, it does not change the fact that the rest of the sleds ran great considering the conditions. I know that there have been cheaters every year at the shootout, that did not get caught. It happens every time I go to a race so just try to do better next time around at minimizing the problem. never gonna catch it all. I would also like to know what was done to it as the parts on it and the company that made them should get credit for it. My bet is that they were already there at the event. Is the xfr10 fast? I guess we have our answer. Have not posted for a long time but used to play here often.

Don't want to get everyones undies in a bunch, but does ANYONE really care about the SRX??? My old ZR 800 beat up on them...Your acting like they were the best thing since sliced bread! The track is different every year so does it REALLY mean the SRX is fastest...NO! Carry on.

Tony, there is a big difference between an ISR legal grass drag sled and a production sled. It's an apples and oranges comparison. You are allowed reprogrammed ECUs and timing adjustments. You can't run Y pipes, so if somebody did, they were cheating. A stock Firecat ECU won't run right in the grass without more fuel added. Do you really believe those SRXs run 5.50s stock out of the box? Back in 02 my ZR800 ran 5.50s and Glenn Hall was running high 5.40s with his ZR800 EFI. Why wouldn't a Firecat with more HP and less weight run 5.30s? Power to weight ratio, it's simple math.

As to the Shootout sleds, they are supposed to be out of the box stockers, dyno certified, locked away and brought to the track. Jim has already said in his blog that "we allowed Big Moose to keep the sleds, no dyno certification and lock-up, let them run in the Unlimited Stock class amongst themselves." If that sled was dynoed at Jim's, it would have most surely been caught with the extra HP. Admittedly, the tech was much too relaxed this year which falls on the tech guys that helped Jim. I was one of them, so it falls on my shoulders. I should have done a better job as I explained earlier. It won't happen again. I'll quote the Intimidator, "It is what it is". Unfortunately, nothing can be done about what happened this year. I look forward to next years 20th Anniversary race, it should be a good one.

Ouch, I guess that is a little more than just fooling or reprogramming an ECU... I really don't think they did anything internal or it would have been faster...

Tony Don't waste your Time Dude. I stop wasting my time once I bought a race sled and realizied these trail sled keyboard racers are clowns whihc included me. Look at what this guy did just to be the fastest trail sled. he takes what's suppose to be a demonstation of what a sled out the of teh box can do and he Ruins it!!!! That's why I don't care about how fast my trail sled is against anyone elses. I know my sled is 100% stock motor wise and that I have nothing to hide. When I want to race I take my race sled to the ice. Will I race down a road with my trail sled? Ya I will but I'll never get in to arguement over who's trail sled is faster ever again!!!!
