Not trying to piss anyone off here but what the hell does a yamaha anything have to do with this post ?. Im trying to find out what happened and I have to read 4 pages of how fast a 1962 yamaha was . Start a new post about yamahas and lets get back to the crossfire 1000 . JMO
Exactly...respected member or not,who gives a *** about the crummy SRX??? I'm sure the track conditions that year must have been the best EVER...must have been, for that POS to be #1 for so long, your telling me that yamaha (or anyone else)hasn't made a sled that fast since 2001???...

Re: Shootout cheater caught after the fact, making me look like an *sshole
In the Arctic Cat Pride issue Winter 08-09 was a test on 1/4 mile loose snow & measured by a stalker radar gun!!!
03 F7 Firecat = 12.72 sec @ 101.10 mph & top speed of 106.60 mph 08 f8 = 12.63 sec @ 100.90 mph & top speed of 106.80 mph CFR8 = 12.58 sec @ 100.60 mph & top speed of 106.00 mph 08 F1000 = 12.51 sec @ 103.10 mph & top speed of 108.90 mph CFR1000 = 12.40 sec @ 105.00 mph & top speed of 111.70 mph Z1 Turbo = 12.41 sec @ 106.40 mph & top speed of 113.40 mph
These numbers should reflect what a "stock" CFR1000 and Z1 Turbo really run

Re: Shootout cheater caught after the fact
I think that Chris should slim fast some weight next year.(?)! ..so all the sleds run quicker. ..but seriously folks...the fact that the track was even (shitty) for all, i think the CFR 1 would have run as fast or faster..pure stock! HP was not a the only factor at 2pm, the setup off the line was. Ask Rich D. and the ride he had on the flying casket.

Re: Shootout cheater caught after the fact
Tho bottom line here is nobody is attacking Jim or the others involved in putting this event on. If it wasn't for them this event would not happen at all. But if someone is trusted and the trust is broken they will lose in the end. I think that it'ss great that this information was brought out to public knowledge. I know first hand what mislead performance to a customer does when his sled does not run as expected. This is only an *** ake to all the dealers that sell them based on the mislead stock performance. Everyone that goes to or relies on the information obtained at the shootout has a right be angry with this years cheater and along with the cheaters of the past. There are many people who enjoy this event and the information learned. So lets focus each and everyone of us to help all participants to be honest and show us what the manufactures built for us. If this becomes an *** ake for the promoters thet will eventually stop promoting meaning no shoot out.
Jim I think you did a great job along with looneytune and all the others who helped.

jtssrx says"Ya I will but I'll never get in to arguement over who's trail sled is faster ever again!!!! "
That's 'cause my Bearcat will kick your ***! LOL
Shame about the Shootout...AmSnow and the others work way too hard for something like this to happen. Well, all except Looneytune, he really messed this one up!
Just kidding Billy. Who loves ya!

Re: Shootout cheater caught after the fact
I am amazed that all you idiots managed to talk up 5 pages and 87 posts while I was at work making a living. Tony I'd hate to piss on your corn flakes but a 2004 ZR 900 ran an 11.98 box stock!! By my math thats the quickest shoot out sled of all time.
Heres the real deal, ok, now I'm pissed. I am the one who thought this through and came up with this setup, no one else, all on my own. I am to blame. Jim, you said I tainted the results? How about the ski-doo box stock results for the last five plus years. Why dont you explain that to everyone. Smith Marine was allowed to screw with clutching for box stock plus advanced their timing for dealer prep. You dont know what they were doing with their computer, but no one else, for the last few years, could do ecu adjustments.
I know why youre so bent about our fast 1000, because you setup an aftermarket guys sled...the only aftermarket guy whinning.. I'm not telling what I built but I can assure you it wasn't porting, not a pipe, no keyway was installed, and I did not mod an ecu. Oh and I didn't spray it either. No 1200 big bore either...I think someone said that.

Stock 1000 xfire=apx.166HP at Dynotech . This sled at the shootout ran as fast or faster than xfirers with 195hp and 193. I would think its more than a Y pipe and a modified ecu.

Re: Shootout cheater caught after the fact
Oh ya,
and the guy who said our shop has a record of making sleds slower should take another look at the last couple of years results. Every shoot out sled Ive prepped I've managed to make faster, even on a $hitty track.

Oh I like this one! I just can't help but to throw my usless 2 cents in here...
Maybe for the same reason a 380 HP sled can go faster than a 440 HP sled??? Do ya think a bigger HP sled got beat by a lesser HP sled in any other class in that shootout? How about the Apex being slow?
I'm ALL eyes... Ppffss.
