Snowmobile Racing

Plowing on Big Sandy did not go the best today. Good work for 2000 feet, and then the last 1000 was under 5 inches of water and only 12 to 14 inches of ice underneath. Based on difficulty of plowing frozen snow and ice on top of the water and weight of trucks to plow, we thought it best to quit before we dropped one through. This is the kind of slush and water that is being insulated by the snow and ice layer above and probably won't freeze until we see a lot of 30 below nights. Really sucked!

On a side note, the snowmobiling up in McGregor is fantastic and please support the Eagle Point Lounge who supports us racers and sledders! The ice on top of the flooded water makes it fine for sledding! Please support the Hillcrest Resort also if you get up in the area!

We will not do a track with less than 2000 feet of shaved shutdown, and hence we need to move.

Hence it will be the same day on Buffalo Lake in Buffalo, Mn. Saturday January 17th!

Buffalo Lake only has about 2 inches of hardpack snow on the ice at this time and they ran a local race there on Saturday.

We plan to use the North Access on the lake off of County Road 35 just to the east of the Mill Creek Inn.

There is no Americinn, it is the Country Inn and Suites in Buffalo, at 1.763.682.5660 for reservations and tell them you are with NSSR.          

Option is Super 8 in Buffalo, at 763.682.5930, I have not talked to them as of yet.

Registration at 8 AM on Sat the 17th and Racing from 10AM to 4PM.

Should be a great time!! The lake was in great shape this past weekend.  Also,we stopped at the Mill Creek Inn last Saturday and got a 40oz. (yes 40) prime rib dinner for $25!!

Trophies and awards are planned to be at the Buffalo Bar and Grille at State Hwy's 25 and 55 at about 5:30 PM. The Mill Creek Inn has great food and a bar, but I don't think we would have much room. Either is great to eat at!

Saturday is suppposed to warm up and be grrrrrrrreat!

 Hows the track?

Two great tracks with 20 inches of ice in the track area.

All plowed and mostly shaven. Will finish up tomorrow.

Good 1000 feet and about 2200 to 2300 feet of shutdown, all shaved!

Pointed straight East, so NW wind will be quartering Tail Wind.

Be ready to Rock and Roll, should be fast.

Warning: Tickets will be written for over the Speed Limit if you are not on the Track.

Hey Ron, thanks a lot for sending your weather this way.  -17 this AM, Brrrrrrrrrr.

Good luck this weekend, weather s/b perfect for some new records.

 Looks like warmer weather, sick of -30. looking forward to good competition and seeing what everybody has for new stuff. Ought to be some really fast sleds there tommorrow.
