Why are classes being made for pro class sleds that aren't fast enough to win?

To confuse the spectators more?

To make it look like the sport is bigger than it is?

The initial post says 50% payback, for those that didn't catch it, some classes are listed at 100% (as of now). Just read it now BEFORE it changes (maybe print it out).

The additional classes still have not been confirmed in writing from "the powers that be".

Have fun.Wink

Don't think we are going to race til the end of the year, til Kory come back.  Which is good by me, I can get some stuff done around the house this year!

COSDRA:

The $50 is going to the Promoter. The $20 will not even come close to covering the insurance costs.

Ok I'm confused!?  I thought you are the promoter?  Don't they pay you to come put on the show? And if you are saying that its them that are incharge of the Nationals, then why are they giving up $10,000 for Bonus money when its coming out of our own pockets?  Shouldn't it be coming out of the spectators pockets?  I'm confused........ please inform me how thses things work?!!  Boy I hate politics!!

Re: Syracuse Nationals July 17 & 18 Schedule

Kris is the sanctioning body. The people putting on the car show are the promoters. Same as when we hire Kris to do our ice race, we are the promoters. I hope this clears it up for you.

At $50/sled we need 200 sleds in the shootout to cover the cost. Doubt that's gonna happen. 10 years ago it would've easily. The car club is not in this to spend money to give us a place to race. If it takes away from their profit we won't be back.

Once again Kris, I'd like to know how the bonus purse is being divided. If open stock isn't going to get an equal share, we have another sled we could bring instead. Please respond to my original question.

You do realize the 100% payback classes have no bonus money and the 50% classes are suppose to have bonus money

2 lanes.  It is on an actual slightly banked straightaway of an oval clay track.

slightly banked.  that sounds fun at 100.  i know out in the east the land owner forks out a considerable amount of money to have an organization put on a show.  i don't know about anyone else but if i never made any money at doing anything i really don't think i would keep doing it.

Re: Syracuse Nationals July 17 & 18 Schedule

Went to the event web site using the link farther up the page.

Looked at event schedule, still last year's info.

Saw a very short video of a test run from last year.

Out of the 28 pages of events photos from last year, saw none with any sleds.

Hopefully, the event this year will warrant more space on the promoters web site.

Re: Syracuse Nationals July 17 & 18 Schedule

thats why I was asking. It's been a while since we raced our dirt modified there but I was pretty sure there was some banking in the stretch. I'm sure they will figure it out, maybe they'll level out 1000 feet or so?

Last years event was rained out . Also it was a Sunday afternoon only deal I believe  to see if it would generate spectators . The sky fell out after a few qualifing passes . Never got to see any the big sleds run a single pass . We were literally walking though 6 inches of water under the grandstands on the way out . I also don't tink you will ever race on much better of a track . We saw Hills there last year and he may have some good picks of the track if he will post them .

Re: Syracuse Nationals July 17 & 18 Schedule

As far as the track being banked, I don't think its going to be that big of a problem with any sleds.  If you don't feel comfortable with it, just point your sled to the up-side.  The track is smooth so I don't see a problem.  Watch the video of the demo sled going down through.

Re: Syracuse Nationals July 17 & 18 Schedule

I made one pass on it last year with an 800mod.  It is banked but the only time u really noticed it was when u tryed turning around at the end of the track.  The hook up on that track was unreal.  Too much really, as long as it goes off it will be a good/fast race.

d&d 1107:

The same class as kris runs at holly and use to run at bucks its the same as a semi pro improver class speed rack and chisels. For the guys who cant run amt and are not fast enough to run pro yet but have sled set up in race form !!!!

Not sure but this just sounds to me that you have a full out race sled that runs trail type pipes?.. Some of the cats make better power with the single trail pipe then the twin race pipes. wider power band and more torque.

I thought that Semi pro was only for stockers?.. Hell I'd like to run my sled in Semi and Pro...lol
