I would definitely suggest investing in some of these guards. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=106016
If you ride out west, you NEED to take this class! Being Wisconsinites, we don't get to spend as much time in the mountains as those who live in the Rocky Mountain states, but even those who only take a few trips out west should have basic avalanche knowledge. Last week we attended an Avalanche Awareness, Avoidance, and Rescue class for snowmobilers put on by instructor Mike Duffy at The Englehart Center in Madison, Wisconsin. You may recognize Mike's name as he is AmSnow's resident avalanche
We had good luck with out Fusion 600 demo sled when we had it. It originally came a little fat from the OEM so some jetting may be in order, but other than that the sled pulls really hard for a 600. We had no major mechanical issues in the full season that we tested it.
No problem Jason! Happy to do it. Enjoy! Mark
I don't think you can really go wrong with either sled. I personally like the M8 as I think it will go almost anyplace that the M1000 will and the price tag is a little lighter for the 800 as well.
Yes. You will see it in our February Issue most likely.
Personally, I think the 800 CFR is possibly the best straightline-speed-value-for-your-money-sled-deal going right now. That thing is FAST and there's plenty that you can do to it to make it even faster. Plus it is $1500 less than the 1000 CFR. Shoot me an email if you want to talk more about it. mboncher@amsnow.com
Feel free to contact me with your name, address and how many copies of the CD you would like... I will be making them this week. Thanks! Mark Boncher (Senior Editor American Snowmobiler) mboncher@amsnow.com
There's a ton of good helmets and goggles out there right now, it just really depends on what you are looking for. Super lightweight? or comfort? or best protection? or best price point? With all the Midwest riding we do, I make sure to have a breathbox that covers most of my face and that seals well with my goggles. I also prefer goggles with a nose-peice for protection. Shoot me an email, or give me a ring if you need some more specific info. Mark Boncher (Senior Editor American Snowmobiler
